全長71cmの巨大バービー人形に、デヴィッド・ボウイのタトゥーデザインを施し、2016年1月、彼の死の3日前に公開された「Lazarus」のMVに登場する、目隠しとスパイキーな髪型をモデリングクレイで成型・再現。
目隠しは磁石で着脱可能。少年時代の喧嘩による負傷で残った、ボウイの特徴的な左目の瞳孔も再現しています。
全身のタトゥーには、彼のアルバムや楽曲、出演映画、そして彼にまつわる人物たちをモチーフとして詰め込みました。
ボウイ愛が強すぎて、あれもこれもと入れたくなり、最終的にそこから減らしていくのが大変な作業でした。
A 71cm-tall giant Barbie doll, tattooed with David Bowie-inspired designs. I recreated the blindfold and spiky hairstyle from the “Lazarus” music video, released in January 2016, just three days before his death, using modeling clay.
The blindfold is removable with magnets. I also recreated Bowie’s distinctive left pupil, permanently affected by an injury from a childhood fight.
The tattoos cover his albums, songs, films, and people connected to him.
I love Bowie too much. I kept wanting to add this and that, so cutting things back in the end was the hardest part.
