思考も心も露わ

 

“Thoughts & Heart, Exposed - 思考も心も露わ”, 300mm x 90mm x 90mm, January 2026.
パリに住む友人から、このこけしをもらった。
しかし扱い方がわからず、しばらく放置していた。
ある日、他の作品のために粘土で作ったヒトの脳みそを乾燥させているとき、ふとこのこけしが目に入った。ーーそうか、こいつも脳みそを露出させよう。

どうする？彫るか。
そうだ。
ついでに心臓も彫ろう。

思考も心もむき出し。なんて無防備なんだ。
実に愉快だ。シリーズ化したい。
次回帰国の際は、無垢の木製こけしをいくつか手に入れて、フランスに持ち込みたいと思っている。

A friend living in Paris gave me this Japanese “kokeshi” doll.
I didn’t know what to do with it, so I left it alone for a while.
One day, while drying a clay human brain made for another piece, I noticed the kokeshi.
I thought, okay, this one should expose its brain too.
What to do? Carve it.
Yes.
Might as well carve a heart too.
Thoughts and heart, fully exposed.
So defenseless.
It’s fun. I want to make this a series.
Next time I go back to Japan, I plan to get a few solid wooden kokeshi and bring them back to France.
