Princess Pineapple Before & After

数年前にパイナップルを使って似たような撮影をしたことがあったので、今回も簡単にできるだろうと高をくくっていたが、どうやって撮影したのか、どうしても思い出せない。
何度か失敗を繰り返した末に、ようやく思い出す。パイナップルは立たせるのではなく、横に寝かせて使っていたのだった。上下を切り落とし、内側の果肉をくり抜いて空洞にし、人形を中で上下させる。その動きに合わせて、上の「ふた」の部分も連動させるという仕組みだった。
失敗の連続に途方に暮れ、「おまえの根性は本物か？」と試されているような、精神的にも過酷な撮影だった。終わったときにはぐったりと疲れ果てていたが、ふと思い出した――途中でくり抜いた果肉を冷蔵庫に入れて冷やしておいたのだった。その瞬間、自分を少しだけ褒めてやった。

A few years ago, I did a similar shoot using a pineapple, so I thought this one would be easy. But no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn’t remember how I did it.
After several failed attempts, it finally came back to me: I hadn’t stood the pineapple upright—I had laid it on its side. I had cut off both ends, hollowed out the inside, and moved the doll up and down within the empty shell, syncing it with the “lid” on top.
It was a frustrating process with repeated setbacks, almost like a test of endurance. By the end, I was completely drained—physically and mentally. But then I suddenly remembered I had stored the scooped-out pineapple in the fridge during the shoot. In that moment, I couldn’t help but feel a little proud of myself.
