150mm x 85mm x 75mm, January 2024. 「双子のアリス：幻想と現実の狭間で」今回の東京でのポップアップ展示で、一番自信がなかった作品であったにも関わらず、一番の人気だったのがこの双子のアリスでした。スペインの玩具屋から購入した時は両方共に特にドレスと顔の損傷が激しく、そのせいもあってタトゥを施すのも出発ギリギリまで意欲が湧きませんでした。
ただ、デザインは見た瞬間に思いつき、ルイス・キャロルの「不思議の国のアリス」の世界観にウォシャウスキー兄弟の「マトリックス」の概念を溶かし込んだ、相対する双子の設定以外に考えられないと思っていました。なるべくシンメトリックに構成し、しかし所々のデザインを微妙に変えて遊んでいます。
・・・今私たちが存在している（と思っている）この世は、私は、あなたは、幻想なのか？現実なのか？私も時々このジレンマに挟まれます。
青いピルを服用して「仮想世界」での平和な暮らしを続けるか？赤いピルを服用して「現実」に直面し、「真実」を学ぶか？これが何を意味するのか？どこか死生観、アヤワスカDMT的シャーマニズムや宇宙論に通ずるお話ですが、「真実」を見せつけられた時の恐怖感に打ち勝てる人がどれほどいるのか？人間の脳の理解力を超えた向こう側・・・
くだらん！私にはわからないので、青でも赤でもない、ピンクのピルを服用し、その狭間で思いっきり人生をポップに楽しむことを選びます。（そうか、ならば今度はピンクのアリスを作らねば！）
In this Tokyo pop_up exhibition, despite having the least confidence in it, these girls turned out to be the most popular. Bought them from a toy shop in Spain, both had severe damage to their dresses and faces. Because of that, I didn’t feel motivated to tattoo them until the last minute.
However, the design came to me instantly, merging Lewis Carroll's 'Alice in Wonderland' with the concept of the Wachowski brothers' 'Matrix'―a setting that I couldn't imagine beyond the idea of opposing twins. I aimed for a symmetrical composition while playing with subtle design changes in some areas.
...The world we believe we exist in―is it fantasy or reality? I, you, are we illusions? This dilemma sometimes envelops me. Taking a blue pill for a peaceful life in the 'virtual world' or a red pill to face 'reality' and learn the 'truth.' What does it all mean? It might sound like a tale resonating with views on life and death, Ayahuasca DMT-like shamanism, or cosmology. But how many can overcome the fear when confronted with the 'truth' that surpasses the understanding of the human brain? Beyond the comprehension of the human mind...
ENOUGH! I don't know, so I'll take neither the blue nor the red, but a pink pill, and choose to enjoy life to the fullest in that in-between space. (Oh well, then I guess it's time to create a Pink Alice next!).
