I found a book report I wrote on Shakespeare’s Hamlet when I was 14, back in 1986.
This was just after my mom died, when I was deep into punk rock and subculture.
It’s fascinating to see how I tried to interpret Hamlet through the lens of punk rock and subculture. In other words, “Punk Hamlet”.
Young Teru Noji’s primal scream and struggle: “I want to express something, but I don’t know how.” The very blueprint for the artistic path I follow today.

By the way, my homeroom teacher, Mr. Otsuka, gave it a B.
