My "Oscar Trophy"

今年一月、日本での展示直前、「彫刻なんてしたこともないのに間に合うわけないだろう」と、もっともらしい理屈を並べる弱い自分がいた。

その声に打ち勝って完成させたこの作品は、今の私には主演男優賞を獲ったオスカー像のように見えてならない。

新たなこけしを手に入れた。

どうやら、また懲りずに挑戦するらしい。

Back in January, just before my exhibition in Japan, there was a weak voice in my head saying, “You’ve never sculpted before. There’s no way you’ll finish this in time.”

I ignored it and finished the piece anyway.

Now, it looks to me like an Oscar trophy for Best Actor.

I just got a new kokeshi doll.

Looks like I’m foolish enough to do it all over again.
