This little knife is mine - これはぼくの小さなナイフ

I use it when I’m scared - こわいときに手にする

It never really hurts a thing - 何かを傷つけるためじゃない

Just knowing that it’s there - 持っているだけでいいんだ

ベースに選んだのは、曲線の美しいフランス・ライヨールのフォールディングナイフ。ブロンドホーンのハンドルと真鍮のボルスターの組み合わせが、静かな品を添える。

刃は塩化鉄でエッチング。数秒の差で結果が変わる一発勝負。引き上げた瞬間、デザインが立ち上がる。

デザインは解釈を加えず、ブルモリ氏のキャラクターやイメージそのものに徹した。完璧ではない仕上がりだが、その揺らぎも含めて、自分の手の痕跡として受け入れている。

少しずつ、余計なものを削ぎ落とした作り方に近づいている。

The base is a French Laguiole folding knife with elegant curves. The blonde horn handle and brass bolster add a quiet sense of refinement.

The blade was etched with ferric chloride. A few seconds make all the difference, a one-shot process. The moment it comes out, the image rises to the surface.

For the design, I didn’t add my own interpretation. I stayed with Burumori’s characters and imagery as they are. It’s not perfect, but I accept those fluctuations as traces of my hand.

Little by little, I feel I’m getting closer to a way of making by removing the unnecessary.
