A phenakistoscope is one of the first animation device invented by a Belgian physicist around 1832.
It usually comes in the form of a spinning cardboard disc attached to a handle. The user would spin the disc and look through the moving slots at the images reflected on a mirror.
I thought the trick might work by placing it on a turntable, though it was turning too fast it didn’t work out, I shot it frame by frame and edit all together.
But I know the right speed and frames now, I’ll try some more experiments with complicating movements.
