人形のアドリブ - Barbie’s Brilliant Blunder

関節が緩く肘の位置が所定の場所で固定されずに、撮影中に何度か降りてきてしまいました。撮り直しだ、と思いつつも編集してみると、手に持った容器をあたかも上下に振っているかのように見える。台本の段階でそんな動きを考える余地もなく、まさに偶発的に“Magic”が起きた瞬間です。

自分は何を作りたい？何を求められている？という二元論に囚われ、「どんな作品が、自分を通して産まれたがっているのか？」という視点を完全に忘れていた昨今。自分の作品を信じ、「好きなようにさせること」によって、自分を超えた予期せぬ素晴らしい展開が生まれることがあります。バービーよ、君ってやつは？なんて素晴らしいアドリブなんだ！

The joint got too loose, so the elbow wouldn’t stay in place and kept dropping during filming. I thought I’d have to reshoot, but in editing, it looked like the hand was shaking the container up and down. It was pure, spontaneous “magic” that couldn’t have been planned in the script.

Lately, I’ve been stuck in the duality of what I want to create and what people expect. I had completely forgotten to ask, “What kind of work wants to be born through me?” By trusting my work and letting it take its own course, amazing and unexpected things can happen. Oh, Barbie, what an incredible ad-lib!
