...You are looking at pictures of a house that Simon Dale built for his family in Wales. It was built by him and his father in law with help from passers by and visiting friends. 4 months after starting they were moved in and cosy. He estimate 1000-1500 man hours and $5000 put in to this point. Not really so much in house buying terms (roughly £60/sq m excluding labour).

I got my first Macintosh around 96', Powerbook Duo 280C with Mac OS 7.0 (and a Blue Room Records sticker on the panel). I was using word processor programs and drawing simple 2D illustrations. Though it was powerless, soon I went for Powerbook G3 Wallstreet. Was a beautiful, powerful, tough, and super fast machine that I could take it wherever I travel, my portable graphic studio. The days before the USBs, mendokusai SCSI connecting. Then back in Tokyo, Powermac G4 867mhz and little 12inch Powerbook G4 was my main running machine for quite a while. Apple Flat Display + US Keyboard + Kensington Trackball + Wacom Tablet + a mountain of hard disk players. Still draw with this setup, connecting to a Macbook I got from a friend. I don't use iphone, but I love you, Apple. Thank you Steve, rest in peace.

This was supposed to be a music CD jacket design for a psy-trance label in Goa. Was almost done, but was rejected. I guess I gotta find somebody else who's interested in buying this drawing.
Acid trip inspired, plus a little bit of DMT influence. The drawing concept was 'not dark, but psychedelic'. Because my art is almost always facing the 'dark' side, I tried to be 'pop' as possible, but not 'fluffy'. Also I tried the minimum usage of the typical 'psy' images such as fractals, mandalas, Indian gods. My challenge and idea was to create a psychedelic atmosphere without those stereo-type images. Although I end up using a straight, direct motif; acids.
Took me quite long time to get it till this stage. Also it brang me a sweet & bitter memory...
The girl from Ibiza. Having a woman in my heart, I put all my energy inside to finish this artwork. Also some hints from her, the drawing became just perfect. Sadly, my romance end up in an unfortunate way. Plus, I couldn't satisfy my client.
After all, "Love" could be the strongest drug, nothing to compare to psychedelics, alchohols, or narcotics, whatever. I was completely love drugged, and while I was "drugged", my life was up-side-down. I lost control. Love hurts. And if you are not ready for the pain, you won't get love.

There's always a story, dramas on the backstage until one artwork is done. While continuous drawing, you reach to some sort of level, and those "dramas" starts to show on the drawings, thats when the magik(not magic) happens. Each characters on my drawings starts breathing. An initiation to give 'Life' to the characters.

Kut my finger while sharpening a super long knife at work and needed some stitching, but full of blood and pain I kouldn't grab the klutch lever, boss kalled the ambulance. (first time ever in an ambulance!)
While the surgery, I looked down and saw my fxxked up boots, thought I need a new pair.

So finally I finished my kustom seat. I chopped a flat rectangular iron cooking pan for the seat-pan, a block of sponge from a bed mattress, and the skin from the original seat. The image I had was a lowrider bicycle saddle. And the silhouette of the Psyco-gun from Space Pirate Cobra. Narrow, and thin. Not bad at all.

Sexy Balisong. My first butterfly knife was from my dad, a souvenir gift from his business trip to Philippines. I was 12 or something. It was a brass (I think it was) handle with stag horn grips. A small 4 inch blade, in a nice little wooden box with a heat-pressed Balisong logo on the sliding lid. I first didn't like the elegant looking gold color, it took me a bit of time to realise how beautiful it was. Well, I was just a 12 year old kid.
Swinging the knife, practicing various ways to catch. Couple of small kuts perhaps, but no serious injuries. Except once I dropped it on my right foot, the blade went quite deeply in my flesh, but luckily
I didn't need a stitch. Some of my nunchuck tricks comes from the twirling technique of butterfly knives.
Anyway, it's such a unique and beautiful knife.

I read Philip K. Dick's novel "Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep?" long time ago, I was a teenager I didn't really get it. Feel like reading it again now. The film is a bit different comparing to the novel. But it explains more details of course, the meaning of the announcements from the blimp, times settings, etc... Though you must consider it's a different thing, the movie does not follow the novel. Well, the title is different already.

This is how my room looks like after spending a week of making a Boba Fett costume for my kid. The helmet, jet pack, the blaster, and few other gadgets.He chose this bounty hunter guy for his 'Carnaval' = (Halloween sort of thing) outfit. Funny, coz for my third or fourth Halloween, I chose Fett as well. My daughter was to be a pirate girl, but in the last minute, she chose a 'princess'.

I used to make tattoo illustrations on Barbie dolls, give it to friends as birthday presents. Hand-drawing tattoos using magic markers. It was OK. But this time I print out my kustom CG tattoo drawings directly using decal papers.
I shaved her body with sandpapers starting from #400, clearing off the mold-lines, any kind of bumpy thing. I finished her with a #1000. Then put her into bath, washed, and dryed.
After placing the tattoos carefully, I coated her with clear acrylic for protection. But looks too glossy. Must try the matt finish, and I'm sure it'll look kool.

Still continuing experiments with different kind of methods to trap the illustration on a plate. The crystal resin finish gives quite amazing results, gives a little bit of zooming effect. But it's too clear that it makes the parting-line pretty obvious. Costs a lot too. Will keep this method for another project.
For the parting-line appearing, I got a solution. Waiting for the secret weapon to arrive... and I cannot tell you what it is.

These are comp ideas I made for one magazine article, but finaly my idea wasn't good enough for them. I was required to change the electric guitars to a violin and a chello. What kinda shit is that? I refused to do that. Fxxk, NO WAY!
... I screwed up one job... damn, I needed that money for Christmas and New Years...
Never mind, I had a great time with my kids. Also, a precious moment to discover new talents of my children that I never ever seen before. Oh Yeah, they ROCK more than I do!

All guitars are made by carton boxes. My kids did everything by themselves, exept the cutting. To make it look like mahogany wood sunburst finish, I tried it with olive oil. And the results were just perfect.
After all, we had such a great time, the first artwork we have done together.

'83 Honda GB 400 MkII.

I rode this bike while living in Tokyo, around 2004. Was my everyday transport, rode back and forth from my house to my graphic studio 40km x 2, almost everyday.
In my motorcycle history, my bike was almost always a chopper, and this was the first classic cafe racer bike I ever owned. Once you kick the engine and start to ride, you just feel like putting your head down deep inside the fairing, and your ass up. Back-steps, this was something new to me too. Sometimes I miss this front-position since I ride a chopper now. The fairing always reminded me the kool Kawas appearing in Mad Max. me Goose, or Bubba Zaneti? I like both of them, my favorite charactors. I was wearing a fake copy of black Simpson RX6 helmet with this bike. yeah, a fake one, probably MADE IN CHINA stuff. Can't afford a real one man, got two kids to feed!
Was such a beautiful single engine blasting fast rocket bike.
Light blue metallic flake paint, Triumph muffler, racing separate handles, back-steps, Lucas tail-light, WM double seat, built-in Lucas marker lights, Napoleon mirrors, etc...

My new coffin tank from a 1970 Triumph chopper before. Need a couple of polish, rust removing... I thought of pin striping, or a simple rattle can work, but I 'd rather leave how it is for the moment and just put it on my bike, see how I feel.

Me and my '90 Royal Enfield Bullet 350 at Pahar Ganj, New Delhi. I rode this bike in India around '95 - '98. Watching the tough Israeli boys on Enfields, I was so jealous I needed my own, the next season I bought it right away. I drove from north to south, anywhere I could.

19 inch front and rear tyre, mid-high scrambler handle bar, custom seat, cabton muffler, mid-control gears, Lucas tail-light, blue metallic paint, and a Tokyo Techno Tribe sticker that somebody took it off.
Lots of memories, I miss this bike...

I love Z-bars. In Japan, they're called the Robot Handle. Nice naming for a handle bar, no ? I wonder who named it first. You pronounce it Lobboto Handolu, or a shorter version Lobo-Han. Sure is a manga country, Nippon. wakaru?

This photo is right after I mounted my 8 inch Z-bar. I wanted a narrow compact look, so I chopped off 2.5 inches each side. Besides the aggressive look, the handle controlling became easier than before. And this was nothing I was expecting, having a nice handle control positioning. Very satisfied with this handle bar.
I am looking for small switches to mount it directly on the handle bar and make the electric wires go through the bar. I have a nice slim throttle holder and a pair of black Anderson grips ready to be mounted.

I drew this Tron, Akira like future bike around 2000, another Strata 3D modelling stuff.
I build the engine first, and then drew parts by parts as my imagination navigated me. The only place I couldn't think of was the triple tree design. A future triple tree, what would it look like? In the beginning I was thinking of a logic design that makes sense in real, but I didn't want to cut the curved silhouette of the front-end, so I thought of a sphere-shaped, Sci-Fi ultra UFO baring joint somehow staying between the two suspensions, and holding the front-ends. The concept was a Sci-Fi bike, so why not jump the logic?
Funny to have a kick-pedal on a future bike, right? I wanted not only a future-look but also a retro-nostalgic kind of look somewhere in the design, a classic bike in the near future. Thought of a chopped bike version too, using the same bike.
I was living in Bali at this moment, and riding a black '81 Kawasaki chopper ; chopped Sportster handle, mid-mounted BSA gas tank, triumph-like muffler, K frame seat, short-bob fender, frisco grab-bars, goose-neck frame, . . . The engine was almost in stock, but had to full-restore. Odd sound from gear box, dead cam-shafts, dirty carb, etc... uhhh... After several operations, it become my everyday transport. Low tone but loud enough, nice sound from the pipe. It was my first Full-K-ustomized bike, starting from the frame, from head to toe, everything.
I don't have no pictures, I lost all of them. Sometimes I'm such an idiot, I hate myself.

16 seconds stop motion animation.
I made this short sure-realistic story for a music video competition, and YES I got the job with this low-fi stuff, we beat up some super digital 3D animation teams in Japan. With this puppet show? I couldn't believe it first.
These days the figures are very flexible full of joints around the body, you can even make impossible poses like a yoga master does. I think this was from Dragon Figures, "Adam". I had no stress while operating the figure. The Dragon's joints are hard enough to stay in one position. A big difference comparing to others like Hasbro, old Takaras. Very reliable, choose Dragon Figures for stop motions.

Some stills from the 6 minutes stop-motion animation I made around 2003, "What Are We Fighting For?".
The Nebulans are DJ Joe, Mark, and Ace as guitarist, a 3 piece electro-rock band I created using G. I. Joe's while I was living in the perfect place for these kind of art creativity, the mystical magic island, Bali.

Those days, I was making a booklet-catalog for our clothing brand. I wanted to put some image pictures in between pages, and I was a bit tired of using computer graphics, so I picked up the idea of making up a real G.I. Joe band that I always wanted since I was a kid.
. . . It was around '83 in television, I saw a video performance of Radical TV ; two guys, controlling keyboards and a joy-stick kind of switches, synthesizers, bunch of monitor screens, serious looking electronic machines that I don't know, looked so k-ool to me. Could be the pioneer artists of VJ-ing. And, they had this small G.I. Joe Band on a box, performing in between them too! That was incredible, I mean those little dolls were moving, synchronized with music, having an electronic censor inside. It only made simple left-to-right or up-and-down movements, therefore it was an amazing performance . . .
I made the turn table sets from a TV remote, broken DAT cassettes, some yogurt containers, pick-up arms with rusty nails, and some junks I found in my tool box.
The figure is from the Japanese toy company Takara, Combat Joe World War 2 soldier. I bought around '83 in a shop in Tokyo.
After shooting photos, one day I thought, why not make them move?
Now I am re-editing and retouching the frames one by one, erasing the wire stands I used for keeping them standing.
Will upload the new director's cut version as soon as I finish.

"The Sophists" original 1987 pencil drawing and digital remastered version

The original comic is pencil drawn on a notebook paper. I was drawing during biology class at high school, 1986, very much inspired by Kazuyoshi Ebisu's early comic arts, the super ero-gro nonsense sure- realistic stories, and the nasty 'annoying' drawings. For a 16 year old high school boy, his crazy comics were hard core enough, I even felt like hiding it from my parents. Those school days I drew a lot of sure-realism mangas, it was good practising days for building up scenarios nowadays.

The originals are all lost, I only have 11 stories left, all scans from the originals.
Since how I kept the originals pretty rough just in an envelope, the condition was very bad. Pencil chalks were allover the drawings and making a mess. One day I finally kicked my lazy bum to scan and retouch it, but as I started I felt of a colored version, so I start to color it. But I didn't realize that coloring meant drawing the whole thing. I redrew everything, and some minor changes to the story. And that's how a digital remastered version came up. So far it's only in Japanese, but will try in English too some time.

These are old K-ustom graphics I did for couple of companies back in Tokyo, a German science magazine, or some just for pleasure.

I do the 3D CG modelling with "Strata Vision 3D", an old vintage soft ware that runs with MAC OS9. It was my first software I ever bought around 1997, and since then I'm still using it. You cannot compare to a super 3D software of nowadays of course, but it has a special taste on the rendering quality that I like and I just cannot switch to another software. Hard to describe the rendering quality though ; warm but sharp and clear enough, realistic but not TOO realistic, beautiful, special . . .
